I’ve been coming to The Camp Oceanside since 2016, and I officially became a consistent member in 2022 after completing three challenges over the years. I can honestly say this place has been such a huge part of my fitness journey, and I’m so grateful for the community, the trainers, and the support I’ve received here.
One of the things I appreciate the most is how much the trainers truly care about form, technique, and helping you do things the right way. With so much fitness advice floating around on social media, it can get confusing, so it’s been amazing to learn directly from trainers who know what they’re doing and actually watch your form. I’ve taken Elite classes mostly with Coaches Drell, Liz, Sam, and Smooth, and in the past I’ve also trained with Coaches Des and James. Even from just a couple sessions with Coach James, I could tell he was really good and intentional with coaching. Coach Smooth was definitely one of the toughest, but in the best way. He pushed you because he knew what goals you were trying to reach.
I’m about to start my fifth month of Elite this year, and clearly I keep coming back for a reason. The trainers push you in the best way possible. Whether it’s Coach Marisol or Coach Drell hopping onto the sled or adding extra tension while you’re pulling ropes, they do it because they see your potential and know how hard you’re working. They support both the muscle gains and the weight loss journey, and they’re always willing to modify when you have injuries or need adjustments.
The owner, Emma, has been there from the start of my journey almost 10 years ago, and you can tell The Camp Oside is truly her baby. She has such a huge passion for this place and for the people who walk through the doors. That energy shows throughout the whole gym.
The front desk staff is also amazing. Lina, Lani, Claudia, and Amanda are always so welcoming and happy to see you, and Claudia gives the best hugs. The music is always great, the energy is high, and the environment feels like a safe space. No one puts anyone down, no one makes fun of anyone, and everyone is there working toward their own goals while cheering each other on.
Some of the biggest gifts The Camp has given me are the friendships I’ve made along the way. I’ve met so many amazing people here, and some have become some of the best friendships I have today. There’s something special about being surrounded by people who are also showing up, working hard, pushing through, and chasing similar goals. We celebrate each other’s wins, encourage each other through the hard days, and the coolest part is that these friendships have grown beyond the gym. Being able to hang out, support each other, and share life outside of workouts has made this community even more special. These are friendships I’ll truly cherish forever.
I’ve locked in for another year, and I’ll forever be grateful for the support, the community, and the goals I’ve reached so far. My biggest goal is to make it onto that before and after transformation wall one day, and I know The Camp Oside is the place that’s going to continue to help me get there.
